As our community slowly emerges from quarantine to safely enjoy the spring and summer, now is a great time to get your home ready to enjoy with others! Here are some helpful tips to guide you as you clean, declutter, and prepare your house for summertime!

Give Your Exterior & Entryway a Facelift
Clean and brighten the outside of your home while boosting curb appeal in a few simple steps!

  • Power wash outdoor surfaces, washing away pollen, dandelions, and debris that may have gathered in cracks and crevices in the concrete. Depending on your home and power washer, you can give a quick clean to your siding, deck, walkways, driveways, and more!

  • Painting or replacing the street numbers on your house can freshen up your exterior. Looking for something that makes a statement and can be seen at night? Check out illuminated house address numbers for a practical and modern upgrade.

  • Make sure all exterior lights are working and clean out any cobwebs, dust and debris that may have gathered in your fixtures. If you are replacing your bulbs, think about using LEDs, which use a fraction of electricity compared to other bulbs and tend to last a lot longer.

Clean, clean, clean…EVERYTHING.
Having your home clean opens it up, and makes it feel larger!

  • Decluttering your house is a great place to start. Work your way room by room and clear out things that you no longer need or want, as well as belongings you’d like to place in storage or out of harm’s way. Donating clothes and belongings that others may be able to use is not only a great way to give back to your community, you can also get an itemized receipt and use it for a tax write-off.

  • Wash all windows (inside and out). After a rainy fall and winter, your windows may need a good scrub to really let the spring sun shine in. Grab a microfiber cloth, your favorite glass cleaner and get to work! Cleaning your windows on a dry, cloudy day can help you get that perfect, streak-free clean.

  • Sweat the small stuff. From your baseboards and fan blades to inside of light fixtures and sliding door tracks, make sure everything is as clean as you can get it.

Don’t Neglect the Finishing Touches

  • Giving every room a purpose helps you to stay organized and tidy, while also optimizing your space and layout. So move that treadmill out of the master bedroom – you may be surprised at how much bigger and more open things feel when your belongings are well organized.

  • Fix anything that’s broken. Squeaky door? Fix it. Cracked baseboard? Fix it. Temperamental toilet flush? You guess it, fix it! Address all of the fixes – both big and little – that your house needs for it to be ready and comfortable for the summer and seasons ahead.

  • Letting the light in helps to make your space feel larger, brighter, and more welcoming.
